Meet the Youth, the hope of the future.

“Youth is the hope of the future” – Jose Rizal. I am part of the Youth, and let me just say that we’re far from the same as our ancestors. Why? Well, it’s because of the social media’s impact, our different mentalities and views, and we’re just very opposite, in terms of our personalities, I’d say.

Social Media, aka the “Dawn of the Millennials”, has made an impact on us, Millennials. It has come to the point wherein we couldn’t even go a day without touching our phones. Although, I do know some people who could go on hours long without using their phones, I really salute these people. These kind of people really value personal interaction rather than social media communication. During those days where gadgets weren’t in, our ancestors would take courting and relationships seriously, take me back to the old days please!

We were born on different eras. We were taught different things and we were raised differently. Because of the generation gap we also have different views and opinions, that’s why “Toxic Filipino culture” is arising – especially in families. Families should understand each other, even the minor of things, but sometimes they’re the ones who judge and make us feel ashamed. The only cure for this cancer is communication, not Twitter!

Millennials? Well, we’re perceived as narcissistic, lazy, unfocused, etc., while our elders are the opposite, what a stereotype. Millennials try to prove they’re different, some) those who are the same age as me) are already making a difference, such as Nathan Sigworth and Nicole Cardoza. Millennials are the hope of our future as they say, weare just a little different from our elders. One day, we’ll be the ones you’ll root for.

Youth deserve a chance, we deserve greatness. We deserve better leaders of our government, better treatment and a better future. How are we going to prove ourselves if we aren’t given a chance? We might be the ones who’ll have the cure for the uncurable we might be the ones to treat traffic and pollution, we might be the hope of the future, just give us a chance, we’re different!
